This Tiramisu is a classic chocolate and coffee dessert that’s made for two.

Tiramisu for Two

There are few desserts that Thomas loves more than I do. We normally love them equally but Tiramisu is one of few desserts that Thomas loves more than I do.  I mean don’t get me wrong, this Tiramisu is delicious but while I say that it’s good, Thomas goes crazy over it.

If we go out to eat at an Italian place and there is Tiramisu on the menu, Thomas is going to order it.  You know who else loves Tiramisu? My dad. I swear, we may not be Italian by blood but our taste buds think we are.

Tiramisu for Two

Since Valentines day is coming up I thought that this would be the perfect dessert to make and share on BigBearsWife.com this week.  We don’t really celebrate Valentines day with gifts or fancy things but that doesn’t mean that I won’t whip up something special for the people I love.

Tiramisu for Two is just the perfect Valentines Day dessert! This is a recipe that anyone could make and it’s the perfect size for two people to share.

Tiramisu for Two

Of course I had to test this recipe out a bit and see if it was a good fit. With Thomas there to be my taste tester I whipped up a few batches. The first few were good but lacked the strong coffee flavor that Thomas was looking for.

I decided to up the coffee flavor and really drench the ladyfingers in the coffee even though everything I read told me not to drench them.  However, I just threw caution to the wind and drenched them with coffee. The extra coffee is what this Tiramisu needed.

Then I made this for the little Super Bowl party that we had at my mom and dad’s house. I think it was the first time that my dad had homemade Tiramisu and he really liked it with the extra coffee flavor too.

Also, let’s talk about the rum for a second, you don’t have to use rum in this dessert. This Tiramisu for Two will be just as wonderful without the rum but Thomas insists on his Tiramisu with rum. He says that it just isn’t Tiramisu without the rum.

Well, I’ll just let you decide if you want to use rum or not in this Tiramisu for Two recipe. 🙂

Tiramisu for Two

So I’ve got a little question for you! What do you do for Valentines Day? Thomas isn’t really big on gifts and to be honest I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on Feb the 14th to show Thomas that I love him just because that’s what you’re suppose to do on the 14th.

Thomas says that we show each other that we really love each other every day so we don’t need to celebrate if we don’t want too, but he also says that it’s up to me haha.

I mean, I have to admit that I kind of miss the mushy Valentines Day stuff. I kind of wish that I would wake up on Valentines day to red and white roses and cheesy valentines day heart box of chocolates.  Well the girly, romantic in me wishes for that and then the normal sensiable me tells myself that I don’t need all of that. 🙂

I’m kinda of torn when it comes to Valentines Day.  What would you say?

To Celebrate or Not Celebrate…that is the question!

I always drench my lady fingers, too – that coffee taste makes the dish for me. I’m loving the way you presented these – in a glass is exactly how I want my next tiramisu (so pretty)!

I’ve never seen tiramisu look so pretty! We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day either. I’d rather do little things all year than make a big deal of one particular day. However, I will look for any excuse to make dessert, so dessert on Valentine’s Day is a must! Bacon Slayer would LOVE tiramisu for two!

This looks absolutely wonderful, but I don’t drink coffee. What else could be used to dip the lady fingers in?

Hi Luana! I haven’t tried it without the coffee but you would try cooled hot chocolate in place of the coffee or a mixture of heavy cream and vanilla 🙂

Just a thought, you could try Pero. It’s a coffee substitute kind of drink with a similar taste.

I know I’m coming in late here, but what size glasses are you using in the pictures?

It’s not going to be super thick but it’s not suppose to be water either. Without being there with you I don’t know which version of runny you have. But remember, after putting everything together they have to sit in the fridge for 4 -6 hours to firm up. So it’s not going to be firm like in the photo in the post until after it sits up in the fridge 🙂

One question — when making the custard, do the 2 T of sugar go in the egg yolks and 6 into the whipping cream or vice versa?
