Quick Glance Chocolate Chip Banana Bread FAQ:
- Do you have to use a loaf pan for banana bread? What can I use if I don’t have a loaf pan for banana bread? I really like to use a loaf pan for this banana bread recipe so that I can cut it into slices. If you don’t have a loaf pan you can use a small casserole dish or a medium cake pan. However I don’t know the baking times for those sizes so you’ll need to keep an eye on the bread so it don’t burn.
- Can bananas be too ripe for banana bread? The only banana that is too ripe for banana bread is a rotten banana. You want the brownest or most spotted bananas you have to make banana bread. These will have the MOST banana flavor.
- How do you ripen bananas for banana bread? If you’re bananas aren’t ripe and you don’t want to wait for them to ripen on their on over time, here are a few things to do. You can bake them in the oven (like I do for my homemade banana pudding) Preheat the oven to 350F. Place unpeeled bananas on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. You can also prink peeled bananas with a fork and place them into the microwave for about 1 minute to soften them. Don’t forget to prick them though and don’t heat them too long or they might explode in the microwave and make a mess. You can also place peeled bananas in a paper bag and leave them on the counter for a day or so to ripen.
- Why does the middle of my banana bread not cook? This could be a number of things but here is something to remember. Oven temperatures vary and while mine my cook completely at 60 minutes your oven may need 70 or perhaps 55. If you check the bread and it’s undercooked, just place it back into the oven for 5-10 minutes and then check again. If the top is getting to brown while you’re cooking the middle just place a piece of foil over the top of the bread to keep it from burning.
- How can I increase my banana flavor? Use super ripe bananas or add in some banana extract. Perhaps about 1-2 teaspoons. You could also use a Banana Emulsion which is like an extract but the flavor and scent doesn’t cookout as quickly as some extracts.
- How long should banana bread cool before cutting? Try to let the banana bread rest for about 10-20 minutes before slicing.
What can I add to my banana bread?
- Chocolate Chips
- White Chocolate Chips
- Caramel Chips
- Pecans
- Walnuts
- Peanut Butter Chips
- Peanut Butter
