A no churn Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream that takes 10 minutes to make and is ready to eat after a few hours in the freezer!
Y’all guess who got to spend the night with us the other weekend!! Guess, Guess!! Ok, that’s ok you don’t have to guess…it was my niece Savannah! She actually got to spend the night with us and we got to spend 2 whole days with her. Y’all this is a huge deal because 1 – we don’t get to see her that much anymore and 2 – this is the first time she’s gotten to stay with us since LAST SUMMER! It’s been a whole freaking year since she’s been able to stay the night with us and we were so thankful that she was able too.
I don’t know when we’ll get to see her next so we spend our time together doing lots of fun things.
Saturday morning, Thomas and I got up early and drove up to pick bug up from Thomas’ parent’s house and then we headed to the strawberry fields!
Savannah had never been strawberry picking so it was pretty exciting to see how excited she was. When she was little, she use to stay with us a lot and sometimes the only way I could get her to eat her dinner was to bribe her with a huge bowl of fresh strawberries on the kitchen table. Something about those strawberries made her want to nibble on fruit and eat her dinner…win win for me!
After an hour or two in the strawberry fields we packed our new haul of berries into a cooler and headed out to lunch. Cracker Barrel was our lunch spot and then we ventured over to the outlet malls for a little shopping because we all headed home! Now one of Savannah’s favorite things to do when she’s here is to help me in the kitchen, so once we got home, we started thinking up ideas for our strawberries.
Savannah’s ideas was this:
A three layer strawberry cake with homemade white icing with fresh strawberries on top and Jack Skellington and Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas on top – hahaha can’t you tell that she was really meant to be mine? haha
Unfortunately for her, my energy level didn’t allow for a massive three layer cake with detailed decorations at 6pm in the evening. haha
No churn ice cream was a little more my speed and a little more acceptable for the amount of energy I had after a full day haha.
So that’s what we made. We got into the kitchen together, cooked dinner (I taught her how to make sauteed shrimp!) and then after we ate, we started working on ice cream!
The next morning, after we made pancakes and after I taught Savannah bug how to flip pancakes, we devoured a cup or two of this fresh strawberry ice cream! Savannah gave it two thumbs up and after I while I had to hide it from her haha….there is only so much ice cream a little tummy needs. haha 😉
