Making flavored frostings at home is so easy and they can really make a dessert pop! For example, vanilla frosting on a hot chocolate cupcake is good but homemade Marshmallow frosting on top of a homemade hot chocolate cupcake is even better!!
What you’ll need for this Homemade Marshmallow Frosting: (amounts below in recipe)
- unsalted butter, room temperature
- marshmallow fluff
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract
Can you pipe Homemade Marshmallow Frosting onto cupcakes and into macarons?
YES! This frosting holds up well enough to be piped into swirls but it’s also soft enough to be sandwiched in between two macaron cookie shells.
I recently made some Hot Chocolate Cupcakes and this marshmallow frosting was amazing on them. Homemade Marshmallow frosting is also amazing on these Pretzel Christmas Tree Cupcakes!
Will this frosting hold it’s shape when piped onto cupcakes?
It will! However, it will deflate just a tiny bit but not a lot. I piped some onto some test cupcakes the other say and let them sit out on the counter for a day. I noticed that they sunk just a tad but they still looked beautiful!
