Sprinkles!
Ok, lets talk about these Red, White and Blue Sprinkle Crisps really quick. This is NOT a sponsored post for Sweets and Treats, I just really love their sprinkles. When I saw them post about their new 4th of July crisps on Instagram a few weeks ago, I went to their site and bought a bag. I knew what I wanted to make with them the second I saw them!
Mickey Mouse Cupcakes for the 4th of July!
But why would crisps make me automatically think Mickey Cupcakes?
If you’re gotten grabbed a decorative cupcake at Disney World or if you were able to grab a Cinderella Dole Whip earlier this year you may notice that a lot of Disney Cupcakes and the Cinderella Version of the Dole Whip had candy crisps on them!
Since I fell in love with making Mickey Cupcakes earlier this year when I made the Homemade Rainbow Mickey Mouse Cupcake, I knew that these would be perfect for a Red, White and Blue dessert inspired by Disney World.
Making Chocolate Mickey Ears for Cupcakes:
You’ll need 2 “ears” for each Mickey cupcake. They’re really easy to make.
Melt down a bit of melting chocolate according to the package directions.
Let it cool for just a minute or so and then pour it into a piping bag. Cut a small hole and pipe circles onto parchment paper.
You’ll want the circles to be somewhere between the size of a nickle and a quarter.
Let them dry for 10-15 minutes.
Then, once you’ve decorated the cupcakes, just pop those ears into the frosting for your very own, homemade Mickey Mouse Cupcakes!

FROSTING
Add butter and shortening to bowl of mixer. Beat together until smooth.
Mix in vanilla and powdered sugar until combined and smooth.
Add milk and whip on high for 3-5 minutes until fluffy. Add more milk 1 tablespoon at a time if needed.
Fill a piping bag that’s been fitted with a large star tip with frosting.
Pipe layer/ swirls on to cupcakes.
Sprinkle base of frosting with Red, White and Blue Sprinkle Crisps.
ADDING CHOCOLATE MICKEY EARS:
Last but not least it’s time to add the chocolate Mickey ears to the Mickey Cupcakes. Just stick two chocolate ears into the top of the cupcake to mimic Mickey Mouses ears. I like to use the smooth sides facing forward.
