These Cajun Baked Chicken Legs are perfectly baked and ready in about 45 minutes! Super juicy and full of cajun flavor! Just Season, Bake and Serve with your favorite side dish for a prefect meal!
Chicken is my go to protein when it comes to cooking and I really love cooking chicken thighs and chicken legs. I just think that they have a bit more flavor than chicken breast and I can normally find them on sale more often.
Just the other day I grab a pack of 8 chicken legs for $2 and they made a great dinner. Chicken legs baked perfectly in the oven with a side of mashed potatoes or Oven Roasted Sesame Broccoli is just perfect!

How Long Do I Bake Chicken Legs In The Oven:
You’ll want to bake these chicken legs for about 40 minutes. Remember, chicken is ready to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 165F. So if you’re worried about undercooked chicken or overcooked chicken, I would recommended you picking up an inexpensive digital meat thermometer like this ThermoPro TP03 Digital Instant Read Meat Thermometer that I have. I love it and use it all the time.
What Is Cajun Seasoning?
Cajun Seasoning is a seasoning mix with roots in Louisiana. It is a spice blend of cayenne and paprika that gives it a bold flavor as well as some other things like garlic, onion, oregano and pepper depending on the brand.
For this particular recipe we used “Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning” but I like to let people know that this brand can prove to be a bit too salty for some taste buds. We also really like Louisiana Fish Fry Cajun Seasoning. This one has a great cajun flavor but not quite as much of a salty taste. You can find both seasonings on Amazon but I’ve also been able to easily find the Louisiana Fish Fry Cajun Seasoning our local grocery stores.
Want To Change Up The Flavor?
That is a great idea! You can use this chicken thigh cooking technique to cook up any flavor you’d like!
- Use your favorite chicken seasoning
- Try lemon pepper seasoning
- Traders Joe’s Everything But the Elote Seasoning Blend is great on chicken
Can I Use Other Cuts From The Chicken?
You sure can. The cooking times will need to be adjusted though. Remember, chicken is ready to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 165F.
How To Cook Cajun Baked Chicken Legs:
-
Line a baking sheet with foil and set aside.
-
Use a paper towel to pat drumsticks dry.
Why are we drying them? Drying the chicken legs off before seasoning them and baking them will make sure that they get a nice crispy skin when baked. -
Season both sides of chicken legs.
