Normally we either eat canned baked beans or baked beans that we just doctor with a little bit of mustard or brown sugar like our favorite Jack Daniels Beans and Mama Sylvia’s Baked Beans.
This time though we started with great northern beans and seasoned them with molasses, ketchup, spices and Dr Pepper for a great side dish!

How to make Dr. Pepper Baked Beans:

Preheat 350F.

Cut bacon into 1 inch pieces.

Add bacon to a large oven safe pot and cook on medium heat until half way crispy.
Drain bacon grease and add bacon back to pan. -
Add beans to pot and stir.

Add in remaining ingredients and stir.

Pour in Dr Pepper and stir.

Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
Simmer for about 15 – 20 minutes as the liquid is about reduced by half. -
Add pot, uncovered, to oven and bake for 1 hour – 1 hour & 30 minutes until baked beans are as thick as you like.

Let Beans cook for about 5 minutes before serving.
Frequently Asked Questions
I used canned Great Northern White Beans for this recipe.
I haven’t made this recipe with Diet Dr. Pepper but it should be fine.

Ingredients
- 6 pieces thick cut bacon
- 3 cans (15 ounces) Great Northern Beans, drained
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 15 ounces regular Dr. Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat 350F.
- Cut bacon into 1 inch pieces.

I have not made this recipe with dry beans or already seasoned beans.
