Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re going to make a sandwich like ham & cheese or a Peanut Butter and Jelly, make them as normal and then slide them into a Ziploc bag & seal.
For sandwich like Clubs and BLTS that have more feeling, wrap them in parchment paper before sticking them into a ziplock lock bag to prevent the fillings from falling out.
For sandwiches with cold fillings like Chicken Salad, Egg Salad, Pimento Cheese and Tuna Salad, pack the bread and filling separate. Make sure to add an ice pack with the cold filling to keep it cool.
For Hot Sandwiches, it is also a great idea to keep the bread and filling separate. That way the bread doesn’t get soggy. You can keep hot sandwich fillings in a thermos and the bread in a Ziploc bag.
If you’re making a sandwich like ham & cheese with mayo, you may find that after a while in a bag, the mayo makes the bread kind of soggy.
There are two solutions for this:
#1. Pack the mayo separate/ bring along tiny mayo packets like you get at the fast food restaurant.
#2. Instead of spreading mayo on the bread, spread the mayo between the meat and cheese. This will keep the mayo from making the bread soggy.
