These might be the easiest Christmas brownies ever!
I use to seek out extravagant Christmas recipes and dessert ideas for the holidays but now that I have a 2 year old, I love easy and kid friendly Christmas dessert recipes that I can make quickly.
While my 2 year old would be mostly interested in eating the brownie and frosting, these would be a great dessert for kids to help decorate!
What you’ll need for the brownies: (amounts below in recipe)
- Brownies (recipe links and ideas below)
- 1 cup vanilla frosting (recipe links and ideas below)
- blue food coloring
- snowflake sprinkles
- Christmas Tree Royal Icing Decorations
- Piping Bags
- # 32 Open Star Tip
What brownies to use for these frosted Easy Christmas Tree Brownies:
At first I thought I would add a brownie recipe to this post but this frosted brownie decorating idea can be used with any and all brownie recipes so I wanted to share some of my favorites with y’all (and I might still add the brownie recipe at the bottom haha)
The brownie recipe here is the one I use most on my blog (without the added peanut butter cups).
You could also use these recipes for these Easy Christmas Tree Brownies:
- Blackberry Cheesecake Brownies
- Dulce De Leche Brownies
- M&M Oreo Stuffed Brownies (with Christmas M&M candies)
- Peanut Butter Crunch Brownies
- White Chocolate Brownies
- Toffee Brownies
You could also make these Easy Christmas Tree Brownies using boxed brownie mix or store bought brownies! Yes! They’ll be just as adorable with boxed brownies or bakery brownies as they will be if they’re made with a homemade brownie recipe.
How to make Easy Christmas Tree Brownies:
- Bake, Cool and Cut Brownies. The recipe I use yields 9 brownies.
- Fill a piping bag, fitted with a # 32 Open Star Tip, with 1/2 cup vanilla frosting. Pipe 2-3 zig zags of frosting on the bottom part of the brownie.
- Fill a piping bag, fitted with a # 32 Open Star Tip, with 1/2 cup blue tinted vanilla frosting. Pipe 4-5 zig zags of frosting on the top part of the brownie.
- Add a Christmas Tree Royal Icing Decorations to the center of the brownie.
- Add a few snowflake sprinkles to the blue frosting.
The Piping Tip:
I love the look that the # 32 Open Star Tip gives the frosting when I use it to frost brownies.
I first started using it to frost brownies when I made my Monster Mash Halloween Brownies and I’ve been in love with it ever since!
Also, I think it makes the frosting look like snow for these Christmas tree brownies.
Snowflake Sprinkles:
To decorate these brownies I used these cute little snowflake sprinkles to add some detail to the blue sky. You can buy bottles of snowflake sprinkles online from my favorite sprinkle shop or you can find a sprinkle mix with snowflakes in it and just pick them out.
That’s what I did because I already had this sprinkle mix at the house.
Christmas Tree Royal Icing Decorations:
I found these Wilton Christmas Tree Royal Icing Decorations at Target when we were there the other day but you can buy them on Amazon and you can probably get them at places like Hobby Lobby and Walmart around Christmas too.
You can also make your own Royal Icing Decorations at home, I’ve got a little tutorial on how to make them over on my Chalkboard Brownie recipe post. Or if you’re really good at decorating with icing you could probably use some frosting to draw a little Christmas tree onto these brownies.
I’m not that great with free handing icing and I wanted these to be a quick and easy recipe so that’s why I picked the pre-made Christmas Trees. I also thought they were super pretty haha. I also got the idea for the brownies from the Christmas Tree package haha.
What frosting to use for these frosted Easy Christmas Tree Brownies:
I used canned frosting! I did and I feel no shame!
To frost 9 brownies you only need about 1 cup of frosting, maybe 1 1/2 cup and I didn’t want to make a whole batch of frosting for just a cup.
If you’re making a big batch of the Christmas Tree Brownies you may need more frosting and you can find some awesome recipes here:
- Vanilla Bean Frosting (Pumpkin Spice Macaron recipe)
- Cream Cheese Frosting (Hummingbird Cake recipe)
